In homage to the Alpine Corps , which in 2022 celebrates its 150th anniversary, the Caserta-based liqueur company Antica Distilleria Petrone has created a special edition of its renowned AmaRè , the liqueur obtained from the infusion of herbs and precious essences present in the eighteenth-century “Royal English Garden” of the Royal Palace of Caserta.
A label created specifically for the special anniversary of the Penne Nere will cover the bottle of AmaRè degli Alpini which contains the natural elixir obtained with camphor, lemongrass, bitter orange, camellia, chicory, fennel, myrtle berries, olive, bergamot and lemons.
“Since the Alpine Corps was born in Naples on October 15, 1872 with the signing of the Royal Decree that sanctioned the birth of the first Alpine Companies – says Andrea Petrone, manager of the Distillery – as a Campanian I felt a strong pride in dedicating our flagship liqueur to such an important anniversary”.
The partnership between Antica distillerie Petrone and Corpo degli Alpini has a great goal, to spread the value of the union between two territories different in flavors and traditions, for the sea and the mountains. To bring back to today the spirit of belonging and brotherhood, characteristic of the armed forces, under a single roof that is the excellence of Italian products at any latitude and longitude.
Amarè is a noble natural bitter obtained from the infusion of only the finest herbs and plants present in the “Royal English Garden” of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the precious eighteenth-century garden commissioned by Queen Maria Carolina.
TASTING NOTES:
Dark amber in color with golden reflections. Austere, vertical, severe but balanced on the nose thanks to the addition of cane sugar. Soft, smooth on the palate with wild and perceptibly citrusy hints and a slightly bitter finish.
OUR ADVICE
Excellent digestive at the end of a meal, perfect neat or on the rocks, it should be served preferably chilled with a lemon or orange peel. AmaRè lends itself to various possibilities, its nature as a officinal bitter gives the bartender and mixologist various interpretations of the product. Excellent diluted with tonic water during the summer, exceptional as a cocktail accompanied by a Gin.
