Liquor refined in barrels with 3-year-old brandy and further aged for 12 months at a depth of 10 meters underwater.

On July 7, 2023, for the second edition, the Antica Distilleria Petrone submerged the precious Elixir Falernum in the depths of the sunken Roman city of Sinuessa.

After the results obtained from the first submersion, validated by the Department of Agriculture at the University of Naples Federico II, this time we expect the definitive scientific confirmation of the organoleptic changes the product undergoes during underwater aging.

A micro world

The unique microclimate that forms on the seabed seems to create optimal conditions for the maturation of liquors, just as it does for wines, thanks to several factors: constant temperature, indirect light that is moderated and filtered by the water, the gentle movement of currents and waves that cradle the bottles, and complete protection from the phases of the moon.

Tasting Notes
Deep cherry red in color. On the nose, intense aromas of almond, wild blackberry, blueberry, and small red fruits. On the palate, sweet and enveloping, it reveals intense and profound sensations with a balanced, sweet, and sugary finish that wraps the senses in a timeless experience. Refined in fine oak barrels.

An excellent after-dinner dessert, perfect on its own or with ice, it will make a delightful companion for the evening. Perfect for garnishing ice cream, spoon desserts, dry pastries, and traditional almond-based sweets, such as the famous Neapolitan pastiera.
