Elixir Falernum returns to the waters of Sinuessa for the 3rd Edition!
We are thrilled to share an event that is not just a celebration of our Elixir Falernum, but also a tribute to history and the indissoluble bond with our territory: the 3rd Edition of the Elixir Falernum immersion off Sinuessa.
After the results obtained from the experimentation of the first two immersions, in 2021 and 2023, for the 3rd edition, Elixir Falernum returns for underwater aging in the waters off Sinuessa. This experience is becoming increasingly familiar, an event that continues to represent a true bridge between past and present, bringing back to life the ancient tradition of sea aging that makes our Elixir so special.
But why immerse a liqueur in the sea, you might ask?
An ancient secret revisited
The idea stems from a deep knowledge of Roman traditions and the intuition that the marine environment could positively influence the organoleptic characteristics of our liqueur. As you well know, Elixir Falernum is not just a simple liqueur: it is a journey through time, a re-enactment of the famous Vinum Falernum, the most prized wine of ancient Rome. We have recreated it with mastery, using local ingredients and following an ancient recipe, to let you savor a piece of history.
Immersion in the sea is more than a symbolic gesture. Constant temperatures, partial absence of light, and gentle marine currents create a unique environment that favors a slow and harmonious evolution of the liqueur. It is a natural refinement process, an additional pampering that our Elixir receives before reaching your tables. Each bottle recovered from the seabed carries not only the unmistakable taste of Falernum, but also the echo of the waves, the history of a place, and the magic of a unique process.
Scientific confirmation: collaboration with the Second University of Naples Federico II
Not just ancient traditions, but scientific confirmations. Since its inception, the underwater aging project has been carried out in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Second University of Naples Federico II. This experimentation has yielded important results, confirming the influence of the marine environment on the distilled product, and therefore, the effectiveness of underwater aging.
The results will be presented on September 25th during the surfacing of our Limoncello from the depths of the Gulf of Naples.
